Dwight K. Nelson — Sex in the Temple / Top Preacher Packs the House

Dear Power of Pride,

So many states have legalized gay marriage. What is the position of our church?

Todd

!!YOUR ANSWERS FROM POWER OF PRIDE!!

Dear Todd,

For years, Adventist pastors took a negative stance. As recently as 2009, well-known pastor Dwight K. Nelson preached on Sex in the Temple, and wanted to know: “What’s So Gay about That?” (Dwight Nelson, Sex in the Temple: What’s So Gay about That?, Pioneer Memorial Church, 17 Oct 2009) He equated homosexual activity with sexual immorality. (see graphic at left) “Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10

As you might expect, this sort of preaching offended many people.

HOW TO REACH THE WHOLE WORLD WITH THE SABBATH TRUTH?

So, if not Dr. Nelson, who would be the right man to go as a missionary to the gay community?

9And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

10And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. Acts 16

Clifford Goldstein is a missions specialist and member of the Executive Committee of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

He proclaims a new, more popular revelation: “I’m sure Jesus looks approvingly on ‘loving, monoganamous, and committed’ homosexual sodomy”. (Clifford Goldstein, Religious Edict of 16 Jun 2008, http://www.spectrummagazine.org/blog/2008/06/16 /why_adventists_should_consider_supporting_gay_marriage)

Needless to say, this General Conference message has fallen on eager ears, and a large number of baptisms can be expected.
